About
Mari Dieumegard is a narrative artist and award winning children’s book illustrator. She specializes in gouache, ink, oil pastel and acrylic paintings. Her narrative work is known for its flowing compositions of symbolic imagery, rich in color and metaphor. Mari’s work is influenced by memories, dreams, fables, and the occasional song lyric. Her adventures in nature, hiking, camping, stargazing and swimming beneath the full moon inspire many of her pieces.
Born and raised in Alaska, Mari now lives with her husband, their children, and two furry friends on a quiet pond in Maine. Her work can be found online and in personal collections across the United States.
A favorite quote of Mari's is attributed to Marc Chagall and hangs prominently in her studio: “If I create from the heart, almost everything works; if from the head, almost nothing.”
